Mineral Make Up

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Mineral makeup is the latest craze in the fashion industry. Said to have started in the 1970s (one has really got to love that time), its popularity is now skyrocketing. Made up of finely crushed and purified earth minerals and botanicals, it is said to be better than those chemical-based makeup in many aspects.

Mineral makeup is water resistant and smudging it shouldn’t be much of a problem. There is no need going to the wash room for retouches. In short, you can go on with your day hassle free.

Mineral makeup is also better for the skin. But this is not free from debate among the experts. Mineral makeup, since its components are all natural, are claimed to be non-irritating to the skin, or in any case, skin reactions seldom occur because it is free from chemicals which cause allergic reactions. Some experts agree on this, some do not. So if you are planning to buy mineral makeup, don’t buy a whole bunch of them, check first if they suit your skin.

Avoid Facial Exercises

Monday, April 28th, 2008

As we age, our skin is more brittle and susceptible to wrinkles. Performing facial exercises enhances the development of wrinkles on our face. As we age, the skin does not regress to its old form and the lines caused by exercising tend to remain.

Also when in front of the mirror, avoid doing facial expressions for this has the same effect as facial exercises. Said activities only pull your face and accelerate skin aging. Remember that the face is the only part of our body in which the skin is directly attached to the muscles; therefore any activity of our facial muscles directly affects the skin on our face.

Some Facts About Skin Aging

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

There are two general causes of skin aging; the first is the age of the person, and the second are external factors which influence skin aging. As to the first cause, there is pretty much nothing we can do to prevent it, after all, we all grow old. But as to the second, there is something we can do.

Smoking, sleeping position, and sunlight are some of the factors which influence and hasten the aging of our skin. Smoking causes the skin to age faster and wrinkles are bound to follow. The part of the body which is always pressed onto the pillows or mattress tends to develop wrinkles after some time.

Developing a good sleeping position such as avoiding lying on your stomach and pressing your face on the pillow, can avoid wrinkles. Photoaging is the aging of the skin caused by the sunlight. It is recommended that long exposure to sunlight should be avoided, as well as deliberate tanning. Application of sunscreen is also helpful.

Eye Bags Problem?

Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Avoid caffeine, alcoholic drinks, and too much salt if you are prone to having puffy eyes or eye bags because they dehydrate your body. Take vitamin C. Always wash your face before going to bed especially if you had put on some make-up. This prevents eye bags, puffiness, and swelling especially when you and/or your eyes are tired.

There are natural treatments for eye bags. Among the natural cures are rosehip tea, cucumbers, potatoes, and lavender. They can reduce the swelling under your eyes or the darkening around them. There are also eye creams available in supermarkets, personal care stores and other shops selling beauty care products.

Avoid Varicose Veins

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

The most effective way of preventing the development of varicose veins is by exercising regularly. By having your legs active, through walking or jogging, the circulation of blood in your legs is kept proper. This prevents the accumulation of blood in your veins which, if not avoided, enlarges them. Standing for long periods also contributes in the development of varicose veins. Wearing tight clothes and high heels also promotes their development, so as much as possible, refrain wearing them.

Maintain and ideal weight since excess weight brings pressure to your legs preventing proper blood circulation. Compression stockings are also helpful in preventing varicose veins. Note that this is more common in women than in men, so women should be more conscious about this, not only because it is not a pleasing sight but also it causes pain which could hinder productivity.

Choosing the Right Nail Polish

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Determine the event or occasion you will attend. Bright and bold colors are perfect for gatherings, dates, or any recreational and informal activity. When it comes to meetings, job interviews and other formal events, natural or neutral colors are recommended.

If you seldom apply nail polish, you may match it with your outfit. But if you always apply them, choose neutral colors, otherwise you shall be changing your nail polish every time you change your outfit.

You may also complement your make-up by opting for colors that could blend with it. It also eases the process of choosing the color that you are going to use.
